Blog update October 2020 to present 2022

 

The last two years have been eventful. Despite the Covid -19 pandemic I was able to focus on in-person selling of my products. I attended craft fairs, street fairs and the local Farmer's Market here. It was a great experience with highs and lows and lots of learning experience. 

​

I was humbled by my network of return customers who kept on coming back for more. Thank you to everyone who supported my tiny business. This year we are expanding to include wood signs and laser engraved gifts. I hope you like what I have produced as much as I have enjoyed creating it!

Welcome to my newest Blog for  October 2019 - October 2020

​

Last year I went through a total transition from one genre of crafts to a completely new one. I am totally obssesed with jewellery making, I love it! Last year I forced myself to outside of my comfort zone and stated selling my own jewellery creations at car boot sales. It was challenging but rewarding! I haven't made a fortune but at every single car boot sale I attended I broke even on my entry fee which was awesome.

This year I have new goals to make my hobby more into a business. I need to pay attention to the cost of making my jewellery versus the price at which I sell it. I know I have been underselling my creations as customers can't seem to believe what a bargain they have received. However, I have found the whole experience interesting as items I didn't think would sell have sold well and other items that have been more labour intensive and intricate have not. Keeping prices low in the first year has given me knowledge of my local market and buyers decision processes.

I now feel that I am at a point to narrow my designs to just a few items instead of multiple deigns using different techniques. I hope you will join me on my journey and see how Sparkles, Sequins & Pearls develops and grows.
